At Sky Gardens in Liverpool, completion of many tasks have been achieved whilst other construction activities such as metal partitioning and mechanical and electrical works are making great progress.

There has been significant progress to both internal and external works at the site. New windows have been successfully installed and strip out works are 100% complete whilst works to the link bridge, brick slip installation and external render all keep pushing this project forward towards completion.

In the latest Sky Gardens construction update, progress has been made across multiple areas of construction throughout the development.

Many areas of construction are complete and further advancements have begun, paving the way for more development over the coming months.

  •  Windows are now 100% installed throughout the development and internal partitioning is underway on the upper floors.
  • Demolition of the safe room near to the rear block is also complete, as well as the structural alterations made to the brick and blockwork walls.
  • The steelwork vent supports have been installed for the smoke vent and floor apertures have been infilled where redundant.
  • Scaffolding has been erected to the rear block to allow the existing plant room to receive cladding.
  • Main entrance doors and screen are installed, while structural steel framing has also been installed and progress has been made to the cement particle boards to the under-croft areas of the development.
  • The installation of brick slip cladding has commenced and the insulation which precedes this is 100% complete. The internal boarding has also started to be installed.

The latest construction update for Sky Gardens deals with the removal of asbestos from the resident entrance area, and the completion of internal strip out.

The site is now prepared for internal works to progress further into the New Year and for the external façade to begin.

 

Summary of Works Progressed

  • Large filter fans have been set up to exhaust asbestos particles from the air, with thorough sealing of the affected area. Anything containing asbestos materials has also been removed.
  • Stud walls and electrics have been installed to the upper floors.
  • Internal strip out is now complete and Window frames and cladding fixtures are now going up on the outside of the building.
  • The old lift has been de-commissioned and removed, and furniture removal is complete.

 

Works Scheduled

  • Internal works are on schedule and are due to progress in the New Year.
  • External façade works will commence into the New Year.

The latest Sky Gardens Construction Update details the setup of the site plus extensive strip out and removal of materials from the location to make way for new structures.

Main works include the removal of electrical fittings, the stripping out of ceilings, and the elimination of surplus materials.

  • A full survey of the building and roof has been undertaken, scaffold erection is underway, and site hoarding is up.
  • Materials continue to be removed from the site and the removal of electrical fittings continues.
  • The fire strategy has been produced.
  • Internal strip out is nearing completion while ceiling strip outs continue to progress, with ceiling zones being cleaned out.

Things are progressing well for the construction of the Sky Gardens development.

By June 2018, progress has been made in terms of design, planning, structural, mechanical and electrical works, and main contract works. The site is being well prepared for construction, with the removal of on-site materials and internal structures and fittings.

 

Summary of Works Progressed

  • Materials are being removed via skips on-site, along with the ongoing removal of the internal studwork and electrical fittings and the carpet and floor tile finishes. The removal of toilet cubicles and vanity units has also progressed.
  • The site hoarding has been erected, while internal strip out and ceiling strip outs continue to progress.
  • A full survey of the existing building has been carried out by the structural engineer. This includes pulling testing of the concrete structure of both the front and rear block in relation to supporting the new cladding system.
  • A survey has taken place to establish the incoming services, including electrics, water, telecoms and gas. The M&E engineer is working with the architect to finalise the relocation of the existing connections. A survey of the existing lift and lift shaft has also taken place.
  • The design team have been continuing to work together to finalise the designs with final plans nearing completion.
  • A drainage survey has been completed and alteration works have progressed.

  • A further asbestos survey is underway with any remediation works to also be carried out.
  • One of the current lifts needs to be a fire fighting lift. The M&E engineer is sourcing a suitable lift from lift manufacturers.
  • The current utility connections are to be disconnected and temporary supply provided.
