Gloves Up Knives Down Initiative; Proudly Supported By RWinvest
Founded in 2019, Gloves Up Knives Down is a life-changing organisation committed to supporting young people in the UK who have fallen victim to or are in danger of the devastating effects of knife crime. This is an issue that continues to have a tragic impact on all of our cities, which is why RWinvest is proud to be donating to this incredible cause.
Who Are Gloves Up Knives Down?
The organisation focuses on communities that have been particularly affected by knife crime, providing young people with access to boxing facilities as a means of protecting them from knife violence and other illegal activities that may put them in harm’s way.
In recent years, knife crime has become one of the biggest dangers faced by young people in the UK, who often emerge as the primary victims and experience its worst effects. Knife-enabled crime increased to over 50,000 offences in June of this year, a 3% rise from 2022, yet it remains a critically under-addressed issue.
What Can We Expect From The Gateway?
Gloves Up Knives Down is one of the most powerful actors against this cycle of violence and has been working to change the lives of young people in the following ways:
- Increasing access to boxing facilities across the country.
- Providing boxing kits to community groups and schools to facilitate training.
- Funding grassroots community initiatives that provide access to boxing training sessions for young people in communities affected by knife crime.
- Using boxing and physical exercise to have a positive impact on young people’s lives, teaching them universal life skills that benefit them inside and outside the gym.
The importance of Gloves Up Knives Down and the impact it is having cannot be underestimated. Therefore, RWinvest is proud to offer its continuing support to this inspiring organisation in the hope that this year’s donation can help curb the effects of knife crime and secure a safe and positive future for our children.
