Current Progress

  • Below slab drainage has commenced. 
  • Pile cap foundations are complete at Miller’s Place. 
  • The tower crane foundation is complete.

2023

2022

Steady progress continues to be made at Miller’s Place with the pile cap foundations now complete and the commencement of works to the ground floor slab and column reinforcement. Below slab drainage has also begun and is now complete to the perimeter.

Over the next reporting period, below ground drainage works will progress further and the core walls will be constructed to podium level. Erection of the tower crane is also expected imminently.

  • The pile cap foundations are now complete.
  • Construction of the ground floor slab ground beams and column reinforcement has commenced.
  • The below slab drainage has commenced and is complete to the perimeter.
  • The drainage installation has commenced with most of the perimeter manholes installed.
  • Internal below slab drainage is ongoing in preparation for the ground floor slab insulation and slab construction.

At Heap’s Mill, work is progressing across The Mill and Miller’s Place. At The Mill, demolition of the façade walls to the North and South of the atrium has been completed. Foundation proving has commenced at Miller’s Place.

In the next period, pile proving will commence on Miller’s Place whilst work will continue to remove the atrium steelwork at The Mill.

Summary of Works Progressed – The Mill

  • Commenced and completed demolition of the façade walls to the North and South of the atrium area of Heaps Mill and the removal of modern canopies on the same elevations.
  • An inventory of elements of heritage importance is presently being produced and will form a record of items of importance and what is required to maintain and preserve those items.
  • A central substation is presently being considered for the scheme, this will reduce the requirements for plant space in each building and provide a central point of distribution.
  • MNP have developed the design of the drainage scheme for the development with an attenuation tank to be constructed to control outfall rates.
  • Tower crane plan is underway.

Pre-construction activities at The Mill and Miller’s Place have begun.

The commencement of pre-contract appointments with a number of professional teams has taken place, including the architect, structural engineers and health and safety consultants. Appointments have begun with the construction design and management consultants, and the mechanical and electrical consultants.

There have also been a number of surveys done during the period on the Mill and a demolition strategy has been put together, with a specialist demolition firm appointed to oversee this important phase of the development. Detailed drone surveys were undertaken of the interiors of The Mill ahead of the start of construction, with safe access points identified and a detailed plan put together.
